Venus Murex shells are from a family of large predatory sea snails found in Indo-Pacific waters.  Identifiable by their spiky spines that run along the shell. 

Our Venus spikes are still spiky but are a lot smaller then the average Venus Murex. They are a large shell at approximately 10-15cm, ideal for aquarium decor details. Coloured in muted white and brown hues with striking spines.

Spondylus Varius shells are a type of saltwater clam, otherwise known as Thorny Oysters, found at depths of 30m. Spondylus Varius shells originate from the Indo-Pacific Oceans and off Australia, China, Philippines, Japan and Taiwan.

Cerithium Nodulosum shells are a tall spire shaped shell that prefer to live in shallow waters amongst sea grass in sand or mud, hence their muted natural tones.

Measure approximately between 6 - 10cm in length.

Knobbly (Rhino) Starfish have little rounded bumpy ridges along their top side, coloured in a dull brown tone towards the top of the bump, hence their variety name; rhino.

Codakia Tigerina are a type of saltwater clam, found in shallow coral reefs from the Indo-pacific region, to the north of Japan and South of Australia. They have a stunning polished pearl effect, coloured in pastel pink and yellow finish towards the edge of the shell.

Strawberry Trocus shells are are top-shaped shell with a pearly inside and decorated with a bright pink speckled effect along the bottom. Originating from the Indo-Pacific Ocean and Australia. They measure 6-8cm in length.

Radula shells are a form of scallop from saltwater clams and are found in all of the world oceans.

Murex Endevia shells are a medium-sized sea snail, restricted to the West Pacific regions including Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. 

Their colouring is beautiful with a bright white base and spikes of a prominent dark brown colour. Measure approximately between 5 and 12cm.

Venus Starfish are usually the smallest of starfish varieties, we have the largest of this species we can source measuring approximately 5cm across.

Terebra Turritella shells are medium-sized sea snails. A  tightly coiled shell in a cone shape. Can be found in Indo-West Pacific including the Red Sea, Melanesia,Taiwan province of China and South to Central Queensland. Commonly inhabiting sandy and muddy bottoms in sub-tidal areas. 

An attractive ombre coloured effect tones these cone shaped shells, making them a fabulous shape for many projects.

Luhuanus shells otherwise known as strawberry conch is a medium sized sea snail shell. Is found throughout the tropical and sub-tropical Indo-Pacific region on sandy habitats with coral reefs.

Ceramicum shells are a type of large Sea Snail. With a large thick shell adorned with spines around its circumference. They are located in the Indo-pacific from Eastern Africa up to Eastern Polynesia. 

Sized between 3cm - 8cm in length with striking dark brown spines contrasting against the bright white of the shell body. Excellent aquarium decor.

Placuna shells are also known as 'Windowpane Oysters', they are part of the saltwater clam family. Placuna's live on shallow, muddy-bottomed waters and are extensively collected in the Indo-West Pacific regions where they are farmed. The shells where originally used as glass substitutes in glazing, but are nowadays used in the manufacture of trays, lampshades and numerous decorative items. 

Our Placuna's are typically between 10 -15cm with an attractive pearly white finish, almost translucent in places, with a stunning silver colour along their edge.

Telescopium shells are a from the Potamididae family. They are perfect cone shaped shells, found in mangrove forests throughout the coastlines of the Indian Ocean.

Sized approximately 3-5cm in length with a rich dark brown, almost black colour all over.

Abalone shells are a type of edible Sea Snails, part of the family Haliotidae. The shells of Abalones have a flat, open spiral structure and are uniquely characterised by their open respiratory pores that form a row along the shells outer edge. Strombus is a medium sized sea snail also known as a 'Fighting Conch', normally found in the Caribbean. They are widely used in home aquariums.

Cerethium Vertagus are part of the Carithidae family; a large family of medium sized gastropods which originate from the Mediterranean Sea.

It is a slender shell with elongated and spiralling folds, it looks stunning when used in mobiles.

Peanut shells are part of the mollusc family and are a form of Ark Clam. Found along the Atlantic coast of North America ranging from North Carolina to Bermuda. They attach themselves to rocks in shallow waters.

Sundial shells originate in warm water regions like Indonesia and North and South America and are the home of the Architectonica mollusk. Sundial shells have the most eye-catching of patterns amongst our selection of shells and as such are quite special in our product offering and therefore sold individually. Caput Cowries are a variety of sea snail from the family: Cypraeidae.  Valued for their porcelain-like translucent appearance, striking colours and  unusual flat bottom egg shape.  The pattern on the Cowry is very decorative with its spotted top and deep brown borders, gradually fading to lighter tones underneath into the teeth effect opening.

Fun Fact: The cowry was the shell most widely used worldwide as shell money!

Mushel Melo shells are an extremely large sea snail, from the family; Volutidae. This species can be found in South East Asia from Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, all the way to the South of China and the Philippines. Mushel Melo's habitat in muddy bottoms at a maximum depth of around 20m.

A large shell measuring between 12 - 20cm.  A creamy orange colour with unique ridges on the front of the shell, which tend to be slightly darker than the overall shell colour.  A truly stunning decorative shell.

Pectin Nobilus shells are large scallops or saltwater clams. These inhabit all the oceans in the world, but most frequently found in the Indo-pacific regions.

Tonna Tesselata is a species of large sea snail, found widely spread from South Africa, Madagascar, Western Pacific to Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and all the way to Japan.

During the process of making candles it is important to measure the temperature of the wax to ensure you add oils at the correct heat, and pour the wax at the best termperature. While you could invest in a fancy digital thermometer simple radial thermometers do just as good a job and at a fraction of the cost.

An essential part of any candle makers tool kit.

Made from Stainless Steel so won't rust and is easy to clean out with kitchen roll at the end of your candle making session. Our 600ml jug is included in every candle kit ideal for a new candle maker. The larger jugs work well on their own in a double pot boiler on the stove or used with our large wax melter, enabling small batch production or allowing the wax to cool before pouring.

Note - Basic wax melting demands the wax is not directly heated, and the wax is instead heated in a double pot/ban marie method. Plastic jugs often melt or crack where metal jugs last significantly longer.

Making candles in the double pot method can be very time consuming and hot work standing over the kitchen stove for hours cooking wax. Our large wax melters are excellent investments that save you time and make it easier to produce larger candle batches.

Each wax melter is supplied with a lid and an inner pot - capable of melting between 9 - 10KG of wax.

Using the melter is simple,pour in your wax flakes into the pot, melt the wax and laidle into smaller jugs to mix in your oils. After using a few KGof wax  top up the pot, these wax flakes will quickly melt and you can carry on making candles.

The Alu bottle cap is compatible for all threaded diffuser bottles. As diffuser oils have a low viscosity and are thinner than water the Alu cap is an alternative to the push in shipping cap.

When blackadder candles first started making diffuser products we had the exact same problems as all small producers - no solution to package diffusers in a way that was both cost effective and would suit sitting on a shelf in a shop. Our diffuser boxes were designed to provide a solution to this problem, and using a basic craft eflute material the boxes can easily be spruced up by some ribbon or a label or two.

Each box can hold a glass diffuser bottle from our range of bottles(exclusing bud vase design), a set of rattan reeds and a small 100ml hdpe bottle to hold your diffuser oils.

if you require a large number of boxes, we can have this design printed or supplied in a different colour for orders of 500+.

One of our cute little candle containers are these 140g bean pots with it's own lid. These particular glass containers are popular in mainland europe for use as yogurt pots, but we've found that they can be used as small 30 hour candles.

One of the main differences between an equally priced tin container is the additional effect  that the flame can be seen through the glass, and these are just prettier all round than a standard tin.

These pots are also a perfect size to use standard 50mm diametre sticky labels on the white lid provided to keep dust off or let you add your branding to the candle.

Each container holds around 100g of wax and they are approx 70mm tall and 60mm at the widest point.

Making your own reed diffusers is simple to do using our reed diffuser base oil.

Diffuser base oil is specifically designed to give you the maximum performance delivering your fragrance, and to also ensure your reeds dont get blocked.

Making fragranced reed oil simply mix 30% oil with the base mixture.

Wedo Eco Wick. 

A high quality wick manufactured in Germany designed to appease the eco-conscious customer. This Eco wick similiar to the LX series is also a flat, coreless wick. The wick is made of thin paper filaments interlaced for a more stable and consistant burn, it consists of specially treated paper threads providing a controlled curling of the wick. As the wick is self trimming this means that there is a decrease in mushrooming (carbon balls) as well as smoke and soot.

The Eco series are especially suited to parraffin and vegetable waxes such as soy that have a lower melt point.

LN Wick from blackadder have been manufactured with the sustainer fitted and the wick pre-coated with wick wax to make it quicker and easier to make your candles rather than crimping and cutting lengths of wick.

The range currently has 3 off the shelf wick lengths and sizes available. These are the more common wicks for the blackadder catalogue of tins and glassware.

Should you regularly use LX, RRD or ECO we can also provide any of the Wedo wicks with sustainer fitted and the wick prewaxed.
